LED Light therapy facial
What is LED light therapy?
LED (light-emitting diode) light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that enters the skin’s layers to improve the skin. In the 1990s, NASA began studying LED’s effects in promoting wound healing in astronauts by helping cells and tissues grow.
Today we use LED light therapy to treat a range of skin issues. At Advanced aestetics clinic we often use LED light therapy together with other treatments, to give you the best results.
What does LED light therapy do?
LED light therapy helps treat a variety of skin concerns and conditions, including:
Eczema.
Hair loss.
Improved pigmentation
Mild to moderate acne.
Psoriasis.
Rough, scaly, precancerous spots on the skin (actinic keratosis).
Rosacea.
Sun damage.
Wounds.
Wrinkles and anti-aging.
Are there different kinds of LED light therapy?
LED light therapy uses various wavelengths that correspond to different visible colors. Each color penetrates the skin at different depths.
Blue light affects the uppermost layer of your skin.
Yellow light penetrates deeper.
Red light travels further into your skin.
Near-infrared light penetrates deepest.
Different LED colors do different things. For example, experts believe:
*Red LED light therapy reduces inflammation and stimulates the production of collagen, a protein responsible for younger-looking skin that diminishes with age.
*Green LED light therapy reduces the production of melanin, lightens and reduces existing pigmentation and is very effective at tackling redness and skin irritation.
*Blue LED light therapy specifically targets acne bacteria that cause acne lesions. By removing the bacteria, this treatment reduces active acne. The natural healing process is enhanced and the appearance and texture of the skin is improved.
*Yellow LED light therapy achieves a post-holiday glow. Yellow light penetrates very deeply, it triggers the lymphatic system, therefore improving the removal of toxins from the treated area too. It is also able to increase wound healing and skin hydration.
Does LED light therapy actually work?
Research suggests that LED light therapy can help reduce and improve some skin conditions and issues. To see improvement in your skin, though, it is best to have regular treatments. You need to be dedicated to investing in your skin, if you really want to make a difference make sure you do not miss scheduled treatments.
Advanced aesthetics clinic LED light therapy uses more powerful strengths than at-home devices, which makes it more effective. With LED masks and other portable devices, you likely won’t see dramatic anti-aging or acne-reducing results. You might experience subtle improvements in your skin’s appearance though.
How long does it take for LED light therapy to work?
To see significant benefits, you typically need to have a series of treatments, these can also be integrated into other facials and if you have specific concerns we will gladly tailor a treatment to your requirements. You may for example need a combination of light therapy colours and also diamond microdermabrasion to brighten skin or blue light paired with a chemical peeel. At AAC we suggest having weekly facials for 4-5 weeks and then having a maintenance treatment every month or every few months if you want the best results.
LED light therapy is a non-invasive, painless treatment. During treatment, you might feel some warmth but no discomfort.
